Short Fuses and Loose Ends

Saga: 

Characters involved: 

Following a tip from TB Intel, a small team went to Pinnacle Station, the former Mecha City, to investigate rumors of an impending bombing. Investigating the freighter said to have brought the ordinance in, the group was able to trace the chemicals to a residential district within the station. Interrogating the pilots and hacking the freighter's logs revealed a mystery passenger they'd brought aboard from near Shrapnel City who had been researching the same region.

The group headed there, with Pepper's drone for an advance scout. It discovered a familiar face - the bomber Le Cafard responsible for the Ardiel bombings, now in a new body - lurking in the basement of a random apartment building surrounded by ordinance. An EMP flash knocked out the drone feed, along with surveillance in the area, just as the group was arriving.

Macera was able to get a localized antenna to let them get the word out and get local security inbound while the others followed the sound of a scream to the upper levels of the apartment complex, where Le Cafard had already shot Dee, the hacker from the small team brought in to replace Le Cafard for future bombings against the Treatise Body populace.

While Pepper worked on a new drone in the basement to try and disarm the substantial ordinance that was rigged up, Elena and Adrian worked to talk Le Cafard down. In the end, it was enough to distract them while Jake got a shot off to disable their gun arm, giving a wounded Dee the opportunity to leap out the window and drift down to the street level thanks to the station's microgravity.

After a brief verbal sparring with the team upstairs, Le Cafard started the timer on the explosives and leapt after Dee. Jake moved to the window and was able to squeeze off another two shots, taking a heavy shot himself for his troubles. Elena got him patched up as she worked to get as many people out of the building as she could. Meanwhile, Adrian and Pepper teamed up to take out the bomb, which had a nasty set of failsafes to ensure that everything went bomb. With seconds left on the clock, they were able to disable the last failsafe, robbing Le Cafard of the satisfying kaboom.

Wounded and low on ammunition, and with station security moving in, Le Cafard opted for a tactical retreat, giving the group time to follow up with Dee. Elena was able to keep her from bleeding out in a lonely alley while Adrian and Jake worked out plans for getting her off the station (in exchange for what she knows) and setting a future trap for Le Cafard as they continue to try to clean up loose ends.

Their local contact on Pinnacle Station set up an alert to watch for Le Cafard and try to catch them before they leave the station. Some days after the incident, the news will break of bodies discovered at a local backup facility, including two robotic backup technicians and a third human-passing robotic body matching the description of Le Cafard. All records of the backup and reloading of any ID have been wiped from the station's logged. By all appearances, Le Cafard has loaded into a third body and found their way off the station during the confusion, though they have now made a new enemy in the Mecha King in addition to the Treatise Body Administration.

In exchange for her assistance incriminating the New Domai Independents in their involvement in the Ardiel bombings, Dee is publicly announced as dead and giving a new ID to disappear into the very station she was hired to help bomb, now functionally in witness protection on Ardiel. Her information will open new avenues in diplomatic relations between the TB and the NDI that will be the TB leverage to help avoid any future aggression without opening both nations up to open war in space.

I found it super easy to

I found it super easy to track just by keeping a tab open to the wiki page. I don't know if we already have a link to the summons page in the ruler text, but if not, that may be a good place to add it, just to save a few steps to get there.

Part of me wonders, mechanically, if it would be easier to have the A/SH load the companion as an NPC and roll numbers separately from the PC who owns the summon but that'd probably just add unnecessary clutter to save on future button clicks. In terms of tracking stats, it was a cinch :)

Awesome, sounds like we are indeed on the right track with that.

TBH in the future I would like to have like an easy to access quick reference for SH's. Though that is lower in the list as some of the clutter and streamlining needs to be worked out but yar.
ATM however A/SHs can add the wiki page as a favorite - which should help for the time being.

You make a good point and it would prevent some potential headaches. I will be sure to add that to the list we have going on :3
